Presentation is Everything, Part III: Exercising Our Right to Hot

IN WHICH I CONSIDER EXORCISING MY INNER COUCH POTATO.

An indispensable component of the all-important Presentation — and the GAS: Glamour, Attractiveness and Sexiness, that fuels it — is a smokin’ hot, healthy body. Toned and taut in some places, with that extra female va-va-voom of soft ‘n’ curvy in others, our body is the temple to Venus we live in 24/7.

Besides nutrition, discussed in my post Presentation Is Everything, Part II: Food For Hot, the condition of our temple is determined by exercise. Strength, increased energy and stamina, great mood, stress management, balanced blood sugar, excellent circulation, enhanced brain function, healthy libido and sexual performance, heightened immune system, and increased longevity are all benefits of regular exercise; it’s even been shown to head off the dreaded dementia! On top of all these rewards, the icing on the cake we burn off on the treadmill, is the lovely, sculpted body we enjoy from consistent exercise.

Personally, I see exercise and the strong, powerful body it gives me as freedom, which I cherish above everything else. As long as I exercise, I know I can live a long and, more importantly, fully empowered life, with optimal brain and body health — to the grave. What’s hotter than that?

Recent studies have shown that our greatest health risk and threat to longevity is simply the hours we spend sitting everyday. We weren’t designed to lead lives of inactivity, so I make sure I get up for 10-15 minutes each sedentary hour to dance, clean, do crunches, or lift the free weights I keep handy near my desk and sofa. Not only am I heading off a buzzkill premature visit from the Grim Reaper, I go back to work refreshed and do that job even better.

And while I’m watching tv is a great chance to do floor exercises and yoga stretches — much more positive than many people’s sole “calisthenics” of the day, the hand-to-bag-to-mouth action of unconscious grazing on carbs.

Hitting the gym, with cardio and weight lifting, is one way. After all, increased muscle mass heads off osteoporosis, as well as burns more calories throughout the rest of the day, so you can eat more. But I like to make my workouts fun and varied so I’m sure to stick with them. Besides gym basics, I take the classes my gym offers, like Zumba and spin cycling, as well as outside classes in belly dance, Bollywood dance, hip hop dance, kickboxing and fencing: I’m having fun, all while building skills and talents, as well as an attractive figure.

During the rest of the day, I raise my heart rate whenever the chance presents itself: taking the stairs instead of the escalator, walking and biking instead of taking transportation; speed walking instead of strolling, and naturally, having as much sweaty, heart-rate raising hot sex as possible. Much of housework is exercise, too, though I’ve yet to master cardio dusting, and never hope to.

Because I’ll take my lumps, but I refuse to wear them as cellulite!
