IN WHICH I CONSIDER HOW CONFIDENCE IS OUR MOST POWERFUL ACCESSORY, AND IT’S NOT EVEN FOR SALE.
A woman walks into a room and doesn’t just enter — she makes an entrance. That’s because no matter how good looking she is, her self-possession and confidence broadcast an attractiveness which can never be achieved through superficial flourishes; she need not have a bad ass to be a badass.
What compels us springs from her interior, her relationship to herself: she knows who she is. Because unequivocally being — and loving — who we are generates a stature higher than any Louboutin stilts ever could.
Because behind everything we’ve discussed in our series, “Presentation Is Everything,” are our greatest assets: self-esteem and the confidence which grows out of it. In our Life à la Hot, GAS, the Goddess variety — Glamour, Attractiveness, Sexiness — catches fire especially when there’s positive self-regard to ignite it, and the supreme sexiness of confidence to keep that flame burning bright.
In a challenging world in which most of us have childhood issues of one sort or another to overcome, confidence is a rare commodity. Those who have it stand out like glittering prizes, leveraging this super-attractive quality to magnetize positive experiences — experiences which, in turn, can’t help but create more confidence.
Confidence radiates outward from the heart of our being, illuminating us from within and creating a glow around us. Confidence is the quality of wholeness, and therefore strength, that enables us to establish irrevocable boundaries which define our expectations and so, our experience. Confidence projects value, and as such, announces to the world our availability for ONLY those interactions and experiences which honor us appropriately for the Goddess we are. Unquestionably, if we believe we’re all that, then so will everyone else, and honor us accordingly.
Living in integrity, doing our best, nurturing ourselves, maintaining healthy boundaries, and being true to who we are without regard to the opinions of others, are behaviors at the heart of self-esteem. We need to develop and practice these qualities, because self-esteem is a muscle that requires its own nutrition and regular exercise.
The Goddess always begins by celebrating herself, so in my posts I return again and again to self-esteem and its foundation, self-love. Because these are essential to actualizing our Inner Goddess and, indeed, all potentials for creative expression and self-actualization.
There have been fifteen “Presentation Is Everything” posts, and this is the most important of all. Because without the practice of this core one, none of the others will succeed. May your Inner Goddess take you by the hand and guide you to the divine, vibrant, and, of course, hot life you deserve.
Now get out there and strut that hot stuff of yours.
Yours truly,
