IN WHICH I CONTINUE TO BE IMPRESSED BY ATTICUS’S SKILL WITH HIS NATIVE TONGUE.
I’d known that Gregory Peck look-alike Atticus was a best-selling writer; then I’d been delighted to discover his lingual talents were not limited to the page. His post-dessert choice to dine between my legs was no ordinary liqueur selection, of course, but thankfully remained inconspicuous to the last of the tipsy late night revelers. Fortunately, the moist mustache above his upper lip was no revelatory “Got Milk” moment.
But as much as I felt we’d escaped general notice, the band appeared to have possibly enjoyed our adventure. I did notice they played “Come Fly With Me,” as I was, well, in soaring mode. And when Atticus had emerged from under the table, wasn’t that “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” I heard? But I couldn’t be sure, because I hadn’t dared look at them the entire episode.
However, when I snuck a peak at the band members on our way out, their smirks spoke volumes, as they increased the volume on a truly gratuitous “Hail To The Chief.” One trumpeter actually saluted Atticus!
Atticus lunged at me in the back seat of the Escalade, but as much as I appreciated his compliment that I was “tasty,” I felt our flirtation was even more delicious, and wanted to keep it going. Easy for me, of course — I was not only sexually sated, I had zero desire to continue a play date with a drunk who was far more attractive in the sober light of a shelf of his own best-sellers: I’d continue this fun at the library where we worked.
As dawn broke and I removed the last traces of makeup, I saw my own smirk in my bathroom mirror, savoring Atticus’s contribution to an after-dinner experience I’d never forget.
While I’d been enjoying Creme De Menthe, Atticus had been enjoying Creme de Moi.
