IN WHICH I MAGNETIZE A MAGNATE.
The yacht pulled way from Heraklion at sunset, a stunning setting for imbibing the champagne Demetrios had popped to celebrate our “reunion.”
As we reclined on the huge bed cum lounge chair, so sexy it could be called a bed cum come chair, one of the staff — which comprised twenty people — refilled our champagne flutes as fast as we downed them.
I had learned Demetrios was in shipping. Greek shipping, as in, Onassis. This is not at all a bad business to be in. About the only thing to complain about, it appears, is the occasional Somalian pirate forcing a hostage payment.
I was thrilled to find myself hostage to this shipboard conquest — being a captive to this lifestyle, and this hot billionaire, would pose no problem, no sirree. So when Demetrios told me he’d cancelled the party of people he’d invited, to be alone with me, and asked me to accompany him for a five day sail around the Aegean, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.
As we shared stories and got to know each other, Demetrios continued to hold my hand, but now brought it to his lips. He kissed me lightly on the neck and face, everywhere but my mouth. Then he nuzzled my hair with his face, and I felt his hot breath in my ear, sending tingles up and down me.
Licking my ear teasingly, he whispered, “When you walked away in Athens — to the other man — I knew we would meet again. Because the very first moment I saw you, I missed you. I willed it to see you again. We are destined for each other.”
If I hadn’t already been horizontal, this declaration would have turned my legs to Jello. To say his words were romantic was the understatement of the century. Not just the words, but the revelation that he had wistfully watched me get into Apollo’s car, and thought of me ever since.
“Besides,” he continued, his eyes twinkling, “Chronos never makes a mistake.” Hearing his name, the dog emerged from under the chair. I put my napkin over my lap strategically — too perfect a moment for a slobbering dog to pursue my crotch. Though, I assure you, dear reader, plenty of slobbering dogs with human DNA have been there already.
I smiled and patted Demetrios’ cheek. He looked deeply into my eyes, reinforcing his tender proclamation. My lips parted and I knew he was going to kiss me.
All of my lips were parted, in fact.
